YOUTH FISHING DERBY

Saturday May 3st, 2025- Organized by Comrade Dan CrocKett

I literally can't stop smiling. What an amazing day, what amazing Volunteers, what amazing Children and Parents and Grandparents! It's because of everyone that came out today that made the day a success!

I cannot thank everyone enough who came out today despite the chilly weather, 86 young anglers came out to compete, and to see the smiles on there faces and to hear the laughter and memories being made, made the chilly weather worth it i think everyone will agree!
First fish caught- Hudson Lemieux @ 9:01
Heaviest fish caught- Abby Ashley 2.5lbs
Smallest fish caught- Macey Tribute-Wellings 4 1/4 inches
Longest fish caught- Landon Cazzola 21 3/4 inches
Most fish caught- Landon Cazzola 2
Strangest thing caught- Jovan Andjelkovski a Goose Egg

I am also happy to announce i was the only person injured today from a fish fin lmao.
Every kid got a doorprize and we have some left over to get a headstart on next year's derby! I think everyone will agree that we will make this an annual event!

Once again a huge thank you to everyone who volunteered at the river, and a huge thank you to everyone who volunteered at the Legion setting up the patio and BBQ and prizes and a huge thank you to everyone who donated a prize for the derby! Also to Windsor Police Service Auxiliary for coming out and helping us and letting the kids sit in the police car! (Also for giving me a bandage lol)

On a personal note I just wanted to say this has been a 5 month long effort from the beginning to today, during this time my Mother was diagnosed with cancer and sadly passed away, I personally want to thank Patti Gangnon if it wasn't for you canvassing and getting prizes for the kids today would have not have been as great as it was! I Also want to thank all Branch 255's Executive committee for giving me the chance to put this on when I proposed it in December, your support for this was monumental from the get go! Gary Best amazing on the microphone! Marty Flanagan for sign up sheets and working registration tirelessly, Kathy Levasseur-Patterson for the amazing pics, Sue Yablonsky Robin Gallagher Pauline Bisson Scott Beach Cheryl Donaldson for setting up the patio and BBQ. I wish I could name everyone that helped but this post would be longer than it is and I don't want to leave anyone out.I think my Mom and Dad were both watching from above and loving every minute of today, some of the wind gusts felt like my Dad's slaps to the back of my head lol. I can't wait till next year's fishing derby!

Thank you all, Dan Crockett ( taken from facebook feed)
